What is Clubhouse?

Matthew Wileman • Jan 20, 2021

Clubhouse is a audio based social media app.

The creators behind Clubhouse believe that it will become the normal way which people connect, develop ideas; engage, build relationships professionally and socially while enjoying worldwide communication.

So how does it work? And what makes it so different to the other social media platforms?

  1. First of all you need to register your name. Sooner you do this the better. If Clubhouse is as successful as its owners claim, then reserving your preferred user name would be a wise move.
  2. Next, you need to gain an invite. These are only available through people already registered on the Clubhouse platform. This process is necessary as Clubhouse’s platform could not currently support millions of users using the app.
  3. Once invited, you can set up your bio and select your favourite subjects of interest. Such as marketing or entrepreneur. You can sit back and listen in to different room topics such as “The Daily Habits of High Performers” or “Winning Secrets for Instagram”. When a club or individual is followed, your phone screen notifications will periodically appear so that you can then jump in and out of discussion rooms.

Why would I want to join?

If you love audio books, podcasts or listening to the radio, then this could be the social media for you. As the app expands, and grows there will be more and more rooms available to join and engage with and ideally plenty of relevant choices for you. Clubhouse has drawn its fair share of celebrity drop-ins recently including the likes of Grant Cardone, Gary Vee, Drake, Kevin Hart and even Oprah!

Basically, you can join rooms of different chats, on a wide range of subjects, rather like a free-flowing podcast. You can simply listen or choose to add in your own thoughts, advice or opinions.

There’s no recording of any room discussions as the entire premise of the platform is that it’s live. There’s also zero tolerance for hate speech, bullying etc.

The pros of Clubhouse are It has the potential in a great way to give you network opportunities, gain thoughtful insight into expert experiences, enjoy panel discussions and choose from certain areas which really interest you.

Clubhouse serves up content based on who’s following you rather than who you are following which in turn offers an alternative to the other social media platforms.

Users are rewarded with more invites according to the time they spend on the platform and who is engaging with them.

It’s highly business focused so there’s plenty of value available and potential to speak or connect one to one with CEOs of big companies, organizations in your required field.

However there are a few cons when using Clubhouse. You have to be invited to join

You have to use your invites wisely and think about who you are inviting as once they are on the platform, your name is then associated with their bio and it is

only available on iOS i.e. Apple iPhone users.

It still appears to be in its clunky Beta stages at times with no opportunity to ‘like’ a speaker, only ‘follow’

Clubhouse is transient in nature, because conversations are not saved. If you miss a room discussion, then it has gone.

Are you using Clubhouse yet? We would be love to hear about your experiences or if you have any comments or observations on this brand new social media platform.

It is unlikely that AI will replace SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) entirely, but it may change how SEO is conducted & evolve the role of SEO professionals. AI can certainly impact SEO in several ways. For example, AI-powered algorithms used by search engines may become more sophisticated in understanding user intent and delivering relevant search results. This could affect how SEO professionals optimise websites for search engines, by placing a higher emphasis on creating high-quality, user-focused content that aligns with search engine algorithms. AI can also assist SEO professionals in automating repetitive tasks such as data analysis, keyword research, and content optimisation. This could potentially lead to increased efficiency in SEO processes and allow SEO professionals to focus on more strategic aspects of SEO, such as developing content strategies and optimising user experience. However, SEO also requires human creativity, strategic thinking, and understanding of user behavior, which may not be fully replaced by AI. SEO professionals can still provide valuable insights, expertise, and strategic planning to optimise websites for search engines and deliver the best possible user experience. So, while AI may impact how SEO is conducted, it is unlikely to replace it entirely. SEO professionals will likely continue to play a vital role in optimising websites for search engines & ensuring that businesses achieve visibility & rankings in search results. Keeping up with emerging technologies, including AI, and adapting SEO strategies accordingly can be crucial for businesses to stay competitive in the ever-evolving digital landscape.
