Ten reasons you need to redesign your website - Technology is developing at lightning speed. Customer habits online is changing the way businesses adapt faster than ever before. At the same time, your website must also adapt. To make sure your website is working in the best way possible is for the need to be updating your site regularly with fresh new content and it requires constant development to optimise it for your customers’ requirements.

Sometimes a small businesses needs or branding is changed so fast it’s really essential to make a brand new site. A website redesign is not only about the new design. A few years in web technology can bring important changes that can today offer a better user experience, with easier content management use, better functionality, and much more.

If you feel like your business website no longer meets your primary business goals, here are ten reasons you need to redesign your website:

1. Your website is outdated:

When was the last time your business website had a revamp? The best practice recommends that you need to redesign or re-platform your website entirely every 2-3 years!

By this time, important developments will have happened in technology & design trends. Smartphones & mobile browsing on the internet have been mainstream for a decade, but only a few businesses have set their digital strategy to mobile-first.

If you can’t remember the last time you considered editing or adding new content to your website, it’s a good idea to make a new one. Even worse, does your website include out of Flash elements, automatic music/video player, shiny banners or drop shadows? It is now time to make a redesign for sure!

2. Your website has no automation

Business growth is a natural part of every business. This means that your website needs to change. How else will your customers know that your business is doing great?

The problem you encounter will be from your created website that doesn’t support the acceleration needed. For example, your website that has only product descriptions, you want to add an e-commerce shopping cart or chat facility. If you cannot develop your pages the way that you want them to, your online business will stand by to watch others leave you behind.

It is a lot easier to re-platform entirely. By building a new website to a new system with built in automation & functions to help your business move smarter, better and faster, is less expensive & less time consuming than improving your old one.

3. Your company staff page needs updating

Growing your business comes often with a change in staff & personal. You now need to urgently show the changes on your website if you hire new staff or your employees have changed roles substantially. Lack of fresh information will out-date your website. Also, you will get a negative image if you show employees that may have moved on.

So, keeping your website fresh by adding news about your products & people, your business should not lose customers. The most frustrating thing is when you cannot make the changes yourself. It may appear to be too complicated, or you don’t have the access needed. It is quite common that you just don't have the skills in-house. It’s difficult and time consuming to keep an up to date online presence if your team doesn’t have the know-how or access for making simple amendments to your site.

4. Your website platform doesn’t meet your business growth

Your website that was created a few years ago may not support your business growth. Many websites that were created in HTML format, where you need to change the code to make any changes on your website.

This kind of content management system is very complicated. If you want an easy editor access and easy to use add-ons that will automate some of the most common tasks like customer management or lead generation, you should take the leap & definitely look into a new website.

5. Your competitors’ websites are more beautiful than yours

Your competitors have changed their website & suddenly rise from the ashes to steal your clients with their stunning new website! When you can admit that a competitor’s website is prettier than yours, it’s definitely time to decide to make major changes. Their site could be more functional, easier to use, better organised, modern, have pop ups to facilitate site visitor engagement and automation follow up campaigns, that will have generated them more leads for them.

Do you know that 7 out of 10 website visitors make their purchasing decisions based on the look and feel of the website they are visiting? When your website is under performing compared to your competitors website in all aspects especially in look and user experience you can say goodbye to to your clients.

6. Your content is outdated

If your website has broken links like 404 error pages, then although fixing these broken links may be easy, it could refer to a bigger problem. Your website is unorganised and poorly maintained! If your website has to many broken links, errors, missing images & other faults that are not working properly, you should opt for a redesign.

When creating a new site make sure to choose a content management system (CMS) that makes it easy for you to update information & add new pages. This helps you to avoid outdated content. You may want to consider a do it for you service. This way you can focus on the business in hand and leave managing the website up to a professional.

7. Your Target audience needs have changed

  • Has your website visitors dropped?
  • Are your hard-earned paid for website visitors left the site without any engagement causing high bounce rates?
  • Maybe your target audience expectations have changed?

Your website is not meeting customers’ needs. Check your website statistics to determine your visitors’ common path on your site.

  • How do they arrive on your site?
  • When and where do they leave your site?
  • Did you know that websites that has Artificial Intelligence sees a 19% increase in visitor engagement?

If your pages have a high exit rate it’s a sign that you need to consider a rethink of your marketing strategy. It may be time to consider a platform that supports your strategy for getting more new customers and to get customers to spend more and come back more often.

8. You are missing out on Social Media

No one doubts social media’s importance in modern day marketing.  If you don’t share your social channels on your main marketing channel, your website, then how can site visitors find you on social media? Social media is very powerful for developing customer relations & promoting your brand. If your website is missing social buttons and links, be sure to add them now. Also it is a good idea to check out your blog and add sharing buttons to each blog post.

9. Your website is not mobile-friendly

Over the last five years, you will have seen a massive increase in visits from mobile devices but are your visitors leaving your site before converting?

The problem is that a regular website doesn’t meet mobile user needs. Mobile technology will only bring more and more visitors to your site while they browse the internet on their smartphones. That’s why it’s important to offer them a dedicated mobile-friendly user experience. If your site editor does not offer responsive design, it’s not going to be mobile-friendly and you'll be irrelevant very quickly and not found then missing out on a lot of traffic & conversions.

10. Your website is not ranking on search engines

Your website appearance on a search engine results pages (SERP) requires constant technical adjustment and content updates. To adjust the technical features including tactics like choosing keywords and optimising pages for relevant keywords. A new CMS system will make it easy to set metadata by yourself without having to change the code. If you currently don’t have a CMS, you probably need help from professional web developers or Search engine optimisation (SEO) specialists. This can become expensive.

Search engines like Google, Yahoo! Bing, Yandex etc. consider fresh and relevant content as a ranking factor. To meet the required criteria and to stay on top of search results you need to be adding fresh content regularly. Consider a daily, weekly and monthly schedule. It is really important that you can update your own site content and add new pages independently. The easiest way to keep your site regularly updated is by scheduling a weekly blog!

If some of these situations are way too familiar, it’s a indication that your website may be out of date and needs refreshing quickly.

It is important to remove the errors and keep your website at the top level. You can be sure that your potential clients are looking for service providers with attractive, more user-friendly and trustful websites.

So make sure you are the one who stands out

It is unlikely that AI will replace SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) entirely, but it may change how SEO is conducted & evolve the role of SEO professionals. AI can certainly impact SEO in several ways. For example, AI-powered algorithms used by search engines may become more sophisticated in understanding user intent and delivering relevant search results. This could affect how SEO professionals optimise websites for search engines, by placing a higher emphasis on creating high-quality, user-focused content that aligns with search engine algorithms. AI can also assist SEO professionals in automating repetitive tasks such as data analysis, keyword research, and content optimisation. This could potentially lead to increased efficiency in SEO processes and allow SEO professionals to focus on more strategic aspects of SEO, such as developing content strategies and optimising user experience. However, SEO also requires human creativity, strategic thinking, and understanding of user behavior, which may not be fully replaced by AI. SEO professionals can still provide valuable insights, expertise, and strategic planning to optimise websites for search engines and deliver the best possible user experience. So, while AI may impact how SEO is conducted, it is unlikely to replace it entirely. SEO professionals will likely continue to play a vital role in optimising websites for search engines & ensuring that businesses achieve visibility & rankings in search results.
